Track

You wouldn't believe that it was the first day of summer. Rain and tracks running like in Tasmania.

We wandered along and up to Mt Majura. A nice little cascade down a rock gully SW of the top.

Back down a slightly different way and a little 'cross country' to gain the main road going W-E to the pine forest. We stood in the middle of the road in the rain having a bite of morning tea (mine thanks to Max and Cynthia).

Continuing to the SW we followed the power lines for a while, then up to join Mt Ainslie Drive (the original benched track is on its N side). There is a photo of a brass plug in the concrete pavements. Peter W used to use it to calibrate instruments. A quick squiz at the top.

We returned NW to the tarred roads in the old Hackett tip area, on the eastern edge of Ainslie/Hackett. N along the back of the houses on MacKenzie St Hackett, crossing several flowing streams marked on the 1:25000 Canberra map as non-perennial.

Thank you, Peter and others. A well chosen walk for a rainy first day of summer.

Distance: 14.4km Climb: 500m. Time: 8.30am - 12.35pm (4hrs 5mins), with 10mins of stops.
Grading: M/E; M(9)
